The 2020 St Mary’s 5K will now be a virtual run

The information below relates only to the physical event which will hopefully return in 2021.
A 5.6km run on paths, country lanes and over footbridges. The course starts and ends at St. Mary’s School, Yate. The run is open to male and female runners including a youth and child section. The route is clearly marked with marshals along the course.

Medals are provided for all finishers. There are also trophies for 1st and 2nd runners in the following categories: Adult Male, Adult Female, Youth Male, Youth Female, Male Child and Female Child.

The route is marked at each km and marshals wearing high vis are at key points on the course. Tail cyclists follow the route. All marshals are in contact with race HQ.
It’s your responsibility to correctly fill in the emergency contact details on the reverse of your race number.
No children can run unaccompanied, however one adult can run with more than one child so long as they stay together on the course.
Headphones are permitted (unless you’re responsible for children on the course), but please keep the volume down so you can hear marshal instructions, and be aware of road crossings, traffic, and other runners.
Venue & parking
The race starts and ends at St Mary’s CE Primary School. The postcode for SatNav directions is BS37 4AP.
The nearest car park is Yate Shopping Centre. There’s no onsite parking. Yate Shopping Centre has four car parks with over 1,650 car parking spaces, which allow free parking for up to four hours.
Registration & bag drop
You can register online until 10:15 on the morning of the race. All race registrations will be online this year with no on-the-day cash slots available.
Collect your race number at check-in between 9:45 and 10:30 in the school hall.
Use your race number to check / uncheck baggage from Race HQ. We cannot be responsible for any valuables left with your baggage.
Bags can be collected from the Tuck Shop marquee following the race.
Youth entries must be aged 12 to 16 years, with parental consent. Children aged 8 to 11 can enter if they’re accompanied by a fully paid adult entry. The adult must accompany the child for the entire course.
The children’s run (field event) is open to any child from Pre-School to Year 6 with registration available online (coming soon) or via the school office for children who attend the school. Children aged 11 or younger who take part in the 5K can also take part in the run.
Food, drinks and games will be available during the morning and after the race. There are toilets at the school, but no toilets along the race route and no shower facilities.
The BBQ, tuck shop, and refreshment stands will be running throughout the event. There’s no cash machine on site, so remember to bring some cash with you. The nearest cash machines are just over the road in the shopping centre. Card payments can be taken for BBQ, hot drinks, and tuck shop purchases.
There’s one water station provided on the route. We encourage all runners to bring their own water bottles which can be filled up on site before and after the race to reduce the amount of plastic used.
