Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, this year the St Mary’s 5K will be going virtual!
As we can’t gather in large groups or use school grounds, a virtual event is the next best thing to taking part in the run, whilst keeping everyone as safe as possible. We hope you can join in the fun of our virtual event.
It can be completed whenever and wherever you like – on a treadmill, on footpaths, in laps around the park or your own garden. Wherever you can run, you can earn a medal.
Once you’ve completed your run, submit your evidence online and we’ll get your medal to you!
How do I sign up?
You can sign up online at Webscorer, then pick a date and time that suits you, and start your run!
I’ve already signed up for the St Mary’s 5K, do I need to register again?
No. If you’ve already signed up for the St Mary’s 5K in October we’ll automatically transfer your registration to the virtual run. You should have received an email letting you know if you’re entitled to a partial refund depending on which ticket(s) you purchased. Please get in touch if the email hasn’t come through.
How much does it cost?
The virtual run is £5 per person (child or adult). This includes a medal.
How long is the run?
The run is 5km (3.1miles).
Do I have to complete the distance all in one go?
No. For younger runners, or if you are building up your distances, you can split your run over a few days or weeks.
Do I need to follow the St Mary’s 5K route?
No, you can pick any route you’d like for the virtual run.
How do I send in my run evidence?
Once you’ve completed your run, put together your run evidence and upload it using our online form. If you’re completing the run as a family, you only need to provide your evidence in one submission. Just be sure to include in your form the names of every runner who the evidence is for. If you’re running with a child, an adult’s evidence will be eligible for both.
What types of evidence do you accept?
You can send us screenshots from any tracking app (such as Strava, Fitbit, or Garmin), a photo of your watch or phone activity tracker, or a treadmill display showing your distance travelled etc.
Do you only accept running evidence?
For our youngest participants (7 and under) we’ll accept any tracked exercise that covers 5km including running, walking, cycling, and scooting.
When’s the deadline for submitting run evidence?
We’ll be accepting evidence online until Saturday October 3rd.
Who can enter?
Anyone and everyone! The best thing about a virtual race is that everyone can take part in their own time, at their own pace. All we need is some evidence to show you’ve covered the 5K distance.
Please ensure that any children taking part in the run complete the distance with adult supervision.
By entering our virtual run you are agreeing that any injury or damage that is caused by completing your run is your own responsibility. The Friends of St Mary’s School will not be held responsible for any injury that occurs during your run.
When will I get my medal?
Our new 2020 medals are currently on the way to us, and once we’ve got them all ready to go we aim to send medals out at least once a week.
If you’re local to Yate and Chipping Sodbury we’ll be hand delivering your medal, but we’ll need some time to process evidence submitted so your medal may take a few days to make its way to you. If you live outside of Yate and Chipping Sodbury your medal will be sent by second class post, so please allow 5 to 7 working days to receive it.
I’m not in the UK, can I still enter?
To keep costs down the race is restricted to UK addresses so we can ensure delivery of medals without additional charges.
